Internships can be great depending on where you work. Bless your heart if you’re stuck getting coffee for everybody except yourself and not even getting paid to be the office bitch. But if you are interning for an awesome company AND getting paid, you know the employment gods have been looking out for you all along.
Snapchat, in my opinion, is one of the greatest apps of all time. The creators are absolute geniuses. There are filters that edit your imperfections so you won’t be as insecure when sending a selfie to your crush. Stories are the ultimate stalking tool. And not to mention, according to The Guardian, the company pays its summer interns $10,000 a month plus $1,500 for housing. That’s twice the amount an average US worker earns. The internships are generally offered to tech students, and are often engineering positions. Surprisingly, some of the largest companies, such as Google, Apple, and Microsoft, offer less in monetary compensation than some of the more up-and-coming startup companies such as Snapchat and Pinterest.
Instead of sitting around on your ass all day at your unpaid and irrelevant internship, wouldn’t you much rather work on designing the perfect selfie filter or scrolling through the sponsors’ stories? I sure AF would. Oh, and hot coworkers wouldn’t be a bad addition either, but that’s just wishful thinking. You could take selfies with the puppy filter on while you and your new coworker bf roll around in cash and post it on your story. What a candid moment..
