Many of us fell into the deep and dramatic rabbit hole that was the Netflix documentary Making A Murderer. It led us all to believe that Steven Avery was put away unjustly for the murder of Theresa Halbach. But at the same time, it kept us hooked for the long run, as most murder-centric documentaries do. Anything to keep us from actually studying, right? For all of us wanting a little bit more of Making A Murderer, don’t worry — we got you. Steven Avery will call into Dr. Phil for a two-part interview on October 3rd and 4th. So like, today and tomorrow.
Recently Steven and his girlfriend Lynn Hartman announced their engagement. The two met while Steven was behind bars, and a post on the Steven Avery Project Facebook page states that “they are very much in love and this isn’t going to change anytime soon.” That’s right, Steven found love while serving life in prison for murder, and you can’t get a text back. Consequently, Hartman will be appearing in studio for the Dr. Phil interviews. It’s possible that their engagement is just for an 15 extra minutes of fame, but it makes for great television nonetheless. Speaking of which, Brendan Dassey, Avery’s cousin who was also charged in the murder of Halbach, recently had his conviction overturned. Hopefully, this Dr. Phil interview will shed more light on the entire case and bring more supporters of the Avery family and their horrific tale.
This will be Avery’s first TV interview since Making A Murderer debuted, and I hope to God Dr. Phil doesn’t go on a skeptical, self-righteous rant and fuck this up for me. Check your local listings to catch the show, and some of that classic northern Wisconsin accent.
