Frat parties are not a place where one would normally feel “safe,” but I can tell you from experience that I never once felt unsafe during my time at the University of Texas at Austin frat parties, and that in part is due to the incredible security team led by Richard “Tiny” Clinton.

His company does security for nearly every frat party at UT (and even some at Texas State) and has been helping frats rage responsibly since at least 2004. Now Tiny is in trouble, and the Greek community at UT is doing their part to help.

Tiny was recently diagnosed with stage 3 pancreatic cancer. If you know anything about cancer, you know pancreatic cancer is one of the worst ones out there. He started chemotherapy today, May 27, to aggressively treat the six-centimeter mass in his pancreas. Unfortunately, Tiny doesn’t have medical insurance so his medical bills are about to be astronomical.

Latoya Clark started a GoFundMe to raise money for Tiny’s medical care and the response has been insane.

From GoFundMe:

Richard “Tiny” Clinton was just recently diagnosed with Stage 3 Pancreatic Cancer! The mass is roughly 6 centimeters which is almost equivalent to an orange ! It’s unfortunate he does not have medical insurance and as can image medical bills are rising! Today May 27th, he will start his first treatment of chemotherapy! We are determined to get him the medical care he deserves and needs, no one chooses to have cancer, feeling exhausted, in constant pain having to stay home from work and not being able to do simple day to day activities. At this time, My Dad and our family are asking for any and all donations to go towards medical expenses which include hospital bills, chemotherapy, radiation, etc. Your donation will help bring us closer to our goal of $10K. God Bless

UT Greeks caught wind of Tiny’s condition and the GoFundMe in his name and immediately sprang into action. The campaign has only been up for four hours and at the time of publication, they’ve raised almost $20,000. That’s an insane amount of money in such a short period of time, but it speaks to the impact Tiny has had on the UT campus. Tiny has given so much to UT and it’s only fitting that in his time in need, we give back to him.
