For those of you who weren’t aware, the Balmain x H&M collaboration launched last Thursday at selected H&M stores. If interested in the designer duds made famous by the Kardashian clan, all you need to do is drop around $600 for a beaded blazer. Totally reasonable, am I right?
According to basically everyone on the internet, the Balmain colab is the most successful H&M collaboration ever. So successful that the markups for resale items on eBay are five times the original price. So that $600 blazer you missed it the first time around? No worries! You can now find it for $3,000 on re-sale sites. With prices like that, it’s surprisingly cheaper to buy actual Balmain pieces straight from the runway. This feels like the Lilly for Target crisis all over again.
So we have two options: Buy these pieces because you just haaaaave to have whatever the Kardashians have. Or, you could admit that Balmain is a fad that will fade as the Kardashian appeal and influence do, not waste your money on costume-y pieces, and instead spend your hard-earned cash on a classic designer, like Chanel. Not that I’m trying to tell any of you what to do, but. Well yeah. I’m trying to tell you what to do. But before you spend thousands of dollars on something from H&M just remember: The Kardashian’s bodies are not included with purchase..
