The “OITNB” Cast Just Shut Down The Most Awkwardly Sexist Interview Ever

Orange Is the New Black

“Orange Is the New Black” has given us a lot. A show to binge on while we fantasize about playing for the other team. Ruby Rose. And, most importantly, a group of kick ass women to look up to. These actors not only entertain us, but they have been fighting for female equality since day one. From transgender rights to gay marriage, these ladies want to make sure everyone is happy, equal, and living the life they want. Plus, it just so happens that they’re total fucking badasses.

In a recent interview, Uzo Aduba (Suzanne “Crazy Eyes”), Natasha Lyonne (Nicky), and Samira Wiley (Poussey) all shot down some absolutely absurd questions from a male interviewer. As a female actor, it isn’t uncommon to be probed about beauty, co-actor competition, and other totally invasive topics. A lot of celebrities just take it and answer them politely. Not these women. Maybe it’s the time they’ve spent in Litchfield. Maybe it’s because they’re strong characters on the show, or maybe it’s because they’re sick and tired of the way women are being treated. Either way, it’s perfect. Sure, the interview is awkward, but their responses are exactly what we all wish we could say when some dumb-as-fuck guy makes us feel objectified.

Now I don’t throw around the word “sexist” often. I think our generation has gone a little far with the whole “being offended by everything” thing. But this? This is one of the most hilariously misogynistic interviews I have ever seen. I don’t know what was worse. The horrific sound effects or the fact that this guy actually exists in nature. What gets me is that these women, who are obviously beautiful, were having none of his bullshit. These are the types of ladies we need to look up to. Being a woman doesn’t mean that you’re polite in the face of ignorance. It’s not being valued solely for your beauty or undervalued the work you do. It’s standing up to arrogance and being a bitch, in the absolute best way possible.

Well done, ladies. Bid.
