There’s An Exact Science To Calculating How Beautiful (Or Troll-Like) You Are

It’s been known for a long time that Greeks are gorgeous. I mean, who can resist a girl in letters? But as it would turn out, the ancient Greeks were actually on to something when it comes to natural beauty. They developed something known as the golden ratio – called Phi – which is 1.618. Theoretically, facial proportions that are close to Phi are supposed to be the most visually pleasing. But Dr. Julian De Silva, a British plastic surgeon, decided to take this concept one step further.

De Silva recently developed a computer program that actually analyzes faces with reference to the golden ratio, allowing him and his team to calculate who has the prettiest face in the world. After going through piles of celebrity photos, they discovered that the perfect face belonged to none other than Amber Heard, whose face was 91.85 percent of the golden ratio. Kim Kardashian, Scarlet Johansson, Kylie Jenner, and Rihanna were also amongst the elite with nearly flawless features.

Kim K. may have come in second in the looks department, but she’s still number one in our hearts. And Instagrams.

To calculate how perfect your nose is, “measure the length of the nose from its widest point to the middle of the eyebrows, and divide that by the width of the nose at its widest point,” De Silva advised. Amber Heard and Marilyn Monroe come out on top, earning a score of 99.7 percent and 99.6, respectively.

To calculate how perfect your lips are, measure the area of your bottom lip, the length of your lips end-to-end as well as the distance of your lips from your nose.” Emily Ratajkowski earns a score of 96.7 percent and Marilyn Monroe comes in second again with a score of 95.7 percent.

And then there’s the eyes. “The distance between the eyes, divided by the length of the eye should equal 1.618,” De Silva said. “The distance from the nose to the edge of the eye, divided by the distance from the edge of the eye to the corner of the lips should equal 1.618.” Scarlett Johansson takes this title with a score of 95.95 percent, with Rihanna coming in second with a score of 95.85 percent.

Kim K takes the crown for the most perfect eyebrows. “There was only one likely winner of this,” De Silva said. “Kim Kardashian’s eyebrows are crafted to perfection … There were two calculations performed. One length of eyebrow from tip to tip divided by length from tip to arch.” Kim scored 94.85 percent with Selena Gomez following closely behind with a score of 94.6 percent.

Finally, there’s the most beautiful chin. “The width of the chin just below the lip should be 1.618 times the length of the lip,” said De Silva. Amber Heard kills it again in this category, with a score of 99.6 percent, landing Scarlett Johansson in second place with a score of 99.4 percent.

Amber Heard is officially the most beautiful woman, according to ancient Greek philosophy. Whatever. Who needs Phi when you can have pie?
