These Magical Ice Cream Bars Are Guaranteed To Cure Hangovers

I’m not trying to be dramatic here, but I’m one of those people who is convinced that I’m legitimately close to death when I’m hungover. It wasn’t so bad in my undergraduate days when I was drinking heavily four nights a week because as a result of said drinking, I was in a semi-permanent hangover for most of college. I think I just got so used to it I didn’t realize I was hungover anymore. I just thought it was normal to wake up with a headache and throw up once or twice before attempting to get to my 11 AM class.

Now that I’m a semi-adult, though, my awful hangovers are back in full force. I went to a friend’s bachelorette party a couple of months ago and I woke up sit-down-in-the-shower hungover. I shook uncontrollably for the rest of the day like a recovering meth addict and my face was a shade of green all morning. I can’t describe to you clearly enough the horrors of my hangovers these days, and, frankly, trying is making me nauseous so I’m just going to say they’re pretty bad and I do not handle them well.

I have a host of hangover foods that I eat the next day in an attempt to help heal my shattered body and mind, but none of them are foolproof. But now, I just might have found the holy mecca of hangover foods.

A convenience store chain in South Korea, Withme FS, has just launched an ice cream bar that they swear will cure your hangover. The bars are grapefruit-flavored and contain oriental raisin tree fruit juice, which apparently helps detoxify the body and also aids your liver in processing alcohol. The name of the bar translates literally to “hang in there,” (lol) and it was designed specifically to help people who have to endure a full day at the office after a night of heavy drinking. Basically, this bar is everything I’ve ever needed in life and more. It might be a little weird for my boss to come in and see me with an ice cream bar at eight every single morning, but so what? And college students, I think that getting to that early class of yours on Friday just got a little bit easier.

Of course, as of right now these bars are only available in South Korea, but that’s a quick trip in the grand scheme of things. I’m already looking at tickets so I can go over there, buy about a thousand of these suckers, and then figure out a way to keep them frozen while I travel home again. Sounds like totally reasonable behavior to me to avoid a hangover, right?

My favorite things are tiaras, compliments, and free drinks, which are becoming harder to come by the more I tend to show up at the bar in sweat pants. The proudest moment of my life so far has been landing an actual, paying job that allows me to Facebook stalk people for a living. I tweet about my mom way too often, who is constantly trying to remind me that I'm not nearly as cool as I think I am. Please send me funny stories to read at work here: shannon.laynee@yahoo.com
