I’ve been bloated for, like, the past four years. You might be thinking “that’s not bloating, that’s just the way your body is now,” but that’s rude and I thoroughly enjoy living in this state of denial so I’m going to call it bloating. The worst is after a really big meal, when it looks like I could be five months pregnant. Some people call that a food baby — I call it “dinner.”
Fitness blogger Tiffany Brien posted these before and after pictures to Facebook to prove just how different your body can look when it’s bloated.
I recognize the first picture, but I’m still waiting for my body to look like the second picture. It’ll happen any day now, I’m sure of it.
Tiffany shares the post to tell her followers that bloating happens to everyone and it’s really fucking inconvient when you’re trying to look hot in a bathing suit or a tight dress. Tell me about it, girl.
She goes on to say that it’s important to recognize the causes of bloating if you want to keep it from happening. She says the main causes of bloating are the types of food you eat, stress, hormones, and sleep. My only response? Fucking duh. If you eat better food, get more sleep, have less stress, and keep your hormones in check, your body will look better. Too bad I treat my body like a dumpster and stay up past 1 a.m. every night. I’m just a few carrot sticks and one good night of sleep away from a bangin’ bod.
Here are Tiffany’s tips to stave off bloating before it wrecks havoc on your summer plans.
* Get your zzz’s!
* Write a food dairy and reflect where and when you bloat.
* Don’t over exercise to compensate for a bloated belly. It’s not fat. Exercising will most likely make it worse.
* Look into gut health supplements – multivitamins and probiotics.
* Drink peppermint tea to soothe your tum.
* Relax and be happy… It’ll be ok, you’re not alone. Promise.
And if you’re like me and plan on making absolutely zero life changes but still want to look good in those bikini pics, there’s always Facetune..
