Losing your license sucks. Of course, if you drink and drive, you should have to deal with the consequences, but not having a mode of vehicular transportation really bites. But if you’re Texas State junior, Tara Monroe, it just means that you get creative.
It all started after Tara got pulled over after a Waka Flocka concert and refused to take a breathalyzer test, which led to an automatic suspension of her driver’s license. As most pissed-off parents would do, her dad came to campus and took away her car, leaving her transportation options limited to a bike. And, as Tara told MySanAntonio.com, “Riding a bike around campus sucks. Like really sucks.”
So Tara sought out some alternate modes of transportation. Not content to use public transportation or bum rides from friends, she bought some new wheels. Power wheels, to be exact. Tara took to Craigslist and picked up a battery-powered pink Barbie Jeep for sixty bucks from a little girl named Charlene. Naturally, Tara decided to name the jeep after the little girl who saved the day.

Tara and Charlene (the jeep, not the little girl) have now been spotted all over campus at both Texas State and The University of Texas at Austin’s West Campus. This has led to her becoming a low-key celeb. She has been the star of quite a few Snapchats, tweets, Instagrams, and Facebook posts because what else are you going to do when you see a girl riding around in a Barbie Jeep at five miles per hour? Monroe said, “This is the best way I could have gotten my 15 minutes of fame. Basically, it was the best decision I’ve made in college, yet…”
Actually, I think the better decision would have been to never go to a Waka Flocka concert. Ever. But I suppose this works too..
