Growing older is a strange feeling, isn’t it? It seems like just yesterday you were whispering with your siblings, trying to figure out where mom and dad (I mean Santa) hid the Christmas presents. And then, suddenly, you were sixteen, and a boy passed you a note, and you handed him your heart. Before you could blink, you were unlocking the door to your first dorm room and holding back tears as you said goodbye to your parents. And now, here you are.
After decades of life that seems to have passed by in minutes, you’re just trying to keep up. You’re enjoying a carefree summer before next semester. You’re looking for a real job now that you’re a graduate. You’re sporting that dream ring, or trying to decide what to do next. You’re suddenly an adult, and it feels like your life so far has flown right by.
A young couple recently experienced that as they got to see their whole lives flash before their eyes in minutes. Literally. In this video by Field Day, two people in love got to experience a lifetime together before they even lived it. Below, you’ll see the powerful, moving, funny, touching, honest, pure, raw, and timeless beauty of true love. Watch in a public place at your own risk.
And since you’re already crying, I’ll throw this relevant quote from the movie “P.S. I Love You” out there.
We’re so arrogant, aren’t we? So afraid of age, we do everything we can to prevent it. We don’t realize what a privilege it is to grow old with someone. Someone who doesn’t drive you to commit murder or doesn’t humiliate you beyond repair.
It makes you think, doesn’t it? We spend so much time worrying about being cool, or “sexy,” or rich, or funny, or liked by all, and at the end of the day, it doesn’t matter. You’re going to get wrinkles. The world is going to chew you up, spit you out, and make you go through absolute hell. But at the end of it all, when you’re ninety years old, you just might be lucky enough to have shared it all with someone. Someone who will be proud of your accomplishments and accepting of your mistakes. Someone who will laugh when you say you don’t want to have sex anymore, but never give up trying. Someone who will look you in the eye and say that you’re absolutely beautiful right before you breath your last breath. That’s what makes it all worthwhile. That’s what true love is. BRB, crying forever..
