There are more important things than money and drugs and power and sex. And hopefully the fraternity will teach me with those are.
You guys. These are the musings of a special treat we have in our midst today. Delivered to our doorstep (on the internet) is this magnificent rush video coming out of the University of Maryland. Theta Chi’s 1986 rush video has everything you could possibly want. Weird on-campus interviews, weird in-house interviews, and dope ‘80s jams.
Between the random outdated pop culture cuts, the douchey frat voiceover coming from someone who’s now a dad, and the awesome trash-talking raps, it’s honestly everything and I do mean everything. The subtle tones of racism toward the Arab brother who “parked his camel outside” and misogyny directed at girls who are asked to “get naked for the camera” add a nice touch. Believe it or not, the fraternity was not immediately removed from campus for joking around with their friends after this video was released (I don’t think).
Good lord. I can’t even imagine what would happen if a fraternity released this now. But I’m glad this video exists..
