^^I’m really attracted to the ideas of Miami, UVA, USC, UGA/GT/Emory, Georgetown/GWU, and as a wildcard, NYU, and I doubt I would wear the Lilly to the NYU or Georgetown/GWU interview. I’ve always perceived it as a very southern brand so I think it would be better received somewhere like Georgia or South Carolina. I was planning on wearing the dress with a nicer, dressy cardigan but DG’s comment made me think and now I’m planning on finding a black blazer with camel buttons (though I can see where camel buttons might not look great against black) to tone the dress down but still go with the pumps if I decide to go that route.
Glad you’ve considered them! It would be a shame if the interviewer judged you on your appearance rather than your work. I’d keep it simple/clean so you can let your intelligence and academic record make the impression instead of a bold outfit. Best of luck!
So I bought a Lilly dress in hotty pink and am now looking for a pair of heels to dress it up for when I have grad school interviews, but I’m kind of stuck on what color to look for. I doubt I will want to (or be able to) match the pink and the other color in the dress is white, and I cannot bring myself to do white shoes other than espadrilles. Would nude be acceptable or do I need to go for pink/white? If you ladies have any suggestions I would love the link

You totally might be right, I’m just against suits and I always feel like dress pants are frumpy. Its a grad interview so I’ll want to show some personality. I mean sure the hotty pink is bright, but its my color and kinda describes me in a way I think would be good for grad school. Even if it were a job interview, I don’t want to work somewhere that won’t have me because I wore something colorful, and I bet you don’t either.
I understand your logic, but there is a time and place for everything. It’s my opinion that a woman should dress for the occasion and respect the social norms/limitations associated with the occasion. If your ritual called for you to wear all white, you wouldn’t show up wearing pink because it would be disrespectful to the tradition. I’m not saying wearing a Lilly dress to an interview is the same scenario, but it is a similar concept. I would tone it down because you’re not “in” yet.

I definitely suggest this one. I don’t remember where I got it, but it wasn’t from this exact site. I wore it to my formal this past spring. I think I was the only one in a full-length gown, but to me, formal and full-length go hand-in-hand. Good luck!
I have this dress! I got it a couple years ago so it doesn’t have the floral embellishment but other than that it is exactly the same. From Macy’s. It’s very flattering and emphasizes your curves. It’s a classic and so far I’ve been able to wear it to two events (different cities). This designer runs really SMALL – so order up a size. I actually got it 2 sizes bigger. Just try to remember it’s the fit that counts not the number on the tag .

I think True Religions are too busy. If you like the look of the stitching/pocket detail, go for William Rast. I don’t wear either but do prefer Vince or Jbrand. They are clean and do not distract from the rest of the ensemble.
Chacos are clunky and not appealing. If you just need casual sandals, wear regular flip flops or Rainbows. It’s not necessarily a srat brand, but Aerosole makes cute shoes that are also really comfy and sturdy like these: http://www.aerosoles.com/product1.asp?P=SOULMATE (Not the blue so much as the other colors.)
The president of Vera Bradley is a Kappa Delta, so it has become their thing on my campus. I really like some of the patterns, but if I’m honest the quilting reminds me of a diaper bag. I’d rather carry a classic two-tone tote. Eventually I want one with my letters embroidered on it.
I didn’t start out liking Yurman because I preferred something more feminine, but I’ve definitely come around. Even if you can’t afford Yurman, interesting but sleek should be the sorority woman’s standard.For day to day, you can’t miss with a basic pendant.
Tie-dye, yes or no? I don’t wear it, but it’s popular at my college and some of my sisters have tie-dye stitch letters. Red and pink nail polish will always be acceptable, but what about other colors? Certain colors like yellow look cute with a tan if they are bright and not shimmery, but it’s easy to cross the line from a pretty pop of color to something hideous.

Forming your argument over what they are called is dumb. You can call them pants, trousers, bottoms, or whatever you fancy. Leggings can be worn as BOTTOMS if you are:
1. Skinny (This does not imply you’re pretty… See Point #2)
2. Pretty
3. Correctly assembling the proportions in relation to shoe choice (usually riding boots are a safe choice) and top/outwear choice (loose tops)
3. Wearing designer leggings (why wouldn’t you be anyway?)
4. Wearing in appropriate settings
If these metrics don’t apply, you’re probably trashy. Even if they do, your appearance is still highly debatable.
