Thanks ladies! I apologize as I was definitely asking for it with some of my comments, it’s not always easy to tell what is meant to be taken seriously over the internet and what isn’t. I’m also BEYOND apologetic to anyone who I offended that has health problems due to the sun and can’t tan. <3

“Despicable” or not, we all do it. And by the way, thank you for clarifying SigmaDelta, your point of view is definitely valid. If more girls had replied like that, instead of attacking, this never would have turned into what it did.

I apologize for my own hostility, it’s just drives me crazy how serious everyone takes everything on this site. I can see why this tsm would anger people (although, in all honesty it was meant as a joke, I would never force any of my sisters to do something they were uncomfortable with that affected their health) but for another girl to get ripped up for her “singing recruitment songs in the tanning bed” tsm and told she’s going to die of skin cancer is absolutely ridiculous and uncalled for. I’m not going to read those comments and not stick up for the girl. At first I saw humour in the reactions but it’s really gone too far.

You aren’t proving me wrong about anything, dear. Y’all are the ones who started this by INSISTING upon posting on every. single. tanning tsm that we’re all going to get skin cancer and die. Very classy. Don’t try to pretend you’re doing it be helpful and informative, you’re doing it to demean ladies, like myself, who take pride in having a tan. Your reasoning for doing this, I don’t know. Whether it’s jealousy that we look good, or just to be annoying, it’s beyond me, but frankly I’m sick of hearing about it (which is why I will constantly take a stand when you ladies on here judge us for tanning). Unless the girl has been living under a rock her whole life, she knows the dangers of tanning. Just like drinking kills your liver, there are bad side effects that come with tanning. You don’t know me, you have no idea how much I tan or how little I tan. For the record, I do it quite responsibly (tanning beds once a week, tops. and mystic tan throughout the winters). I really don’t need to be told by you that I’m going to die of skin cancer, thank you for the sentiment, but it’s rude and you don’t know what you’re talking about. Moving along, if you weren’t so uptight you’d be able to take this tsm as a JOKE, like it was intended. YES, I have told my sisters they should get some colour, NO, I wouldn’t force them into doing it if they were uncomfortable with it. It’s the same way we ask the girls who are overweight to work-out and don’t pretend that isn’t a tsm. Both being tan and being thin ARE tsm’s. They ARE things you often see in sororities and there is no way you can deny that. You must be in serious denial to say that looking perfect isn’t a part of being in a sorority. When you recruit, are you not always aiming to have the hottest pledge class? YES, these girls also need to be quality ladies but it would be a complete lie if you were to claim that looks having nothing to do with it. If this were true, recruitment dress codes would not exist and there wouldn’t such an emphasis on outward appearences (particularly during recruitment). THAT is a sorority whether you want to admit it or not.

Well I’m not a monster, if this was the case with a sister I’d totally understand and tell her to work the fair skin look! I agree with tanning responsibly 100%, I’m not sure why girls on here feel it necessary to tell someone they don’t know that they’re going to get skin cancer… Y’all have no idea how often or how little I tan.

^ This is well said. I, myself, only go to the salon once a week (I think it looks just awful when girls over-do it), however, whether people want to agree with me or not, I do and will continue to pressure my sisters to have a tan around recruitment time. I think it’s an important part in first impressions and makes everyone look better! If they were against it in any way (worried about skin cancer, or whatever it may be) I would leave it be! I’ve yet to have receive that response, though, my ladies love maintain their beautiful glowing skin 🙂

She may have made the username for the same reason croakiesandcashmere may have potentially made her name… for anonymity. She might just be a big fan of Greek and not want to share which GLO she’s apart of. No need to be so rude.

Ok, here we go, one: I don’t pick fights on tsm, you girls are trying to demean ME because I tan and see value in having colour in my skin. I am solely defending myself against you’s with such insecurities that you feel it necessary to tell me I’m going to get wrinkles and skin cancer for laying in a tanning bed once a week. Try to take things less seriously for once on this site and laugh at a joke (although, as a member of standards, I can’t say I haven’t told girls to tan. And this, ladies, is no different than hiding the fat girls during rush, which you all do. My sorority doesn’t have any fat girls, so we focus on tans and looking as perfect as possible). Most of the things that have come out of my mouth are jokes, mocking you crazy up-tight girls on here who need to take it easy. Like, seriously, do you think I hate all pale people? I think it’s gross, but if you’re skinny and there isn’t too much pale going on, I guess it can be acceptable (Sophia Bush is GORGEOUS and sometimes very white. Although she’s hotter with a tan). And as for the stealing my boyfriend comment, yea right. My fratdaddy loves my tan and teases me (jokingly) if I get pale. I never said that tanning beds were healthy, I said they CAN have benefits to your health. It’s a proven fact that tanning beds are a source of vitamin d, which is essential and makes you happy, something you ladies on here are clearly lacking. And the large number of posts dedicated to tanning is because I’ve seen way too many Greeks at other schools who are giving us a bad name by being white and out of shape. Not cute.

Ladies, I’m aware it’s definitely not the best way to get vitamin D and there are definitely some bad effects from the use of tanning beds, HOWEVER, vitamin D IS a benefit.
