Being a gentleman isn’t sexist, but chivalry usually is. Sure, I like my food being paid for, but I don’t like the ASSUMPTION that I can’t pay for it on my own, and shouldn’t. There’s a difference.
^okay but there’s a difference between manners and politeness and chivalry. common courtesy and polite behavior are a yes. chivalry is usually sexist and over the top, trying to buy a woman with gestures rather than love. maybe it’s just preference but I agree with this article.
as somebody who isn’t part of the LGBT+ community, I totally understand! but if there’s a word that somebody feels describes their identity, it helps them feel like they belong. you don’t have to remember all of them but of course we should respect them 🙂
as a former recruitment counsellor I really don’t know why they’d do this. my PNMs said if they had known my chapter they would’ve joined it, and while that’s so sweet to hear, they need to find their own fit, their own way.
work and apartment building are inevitable and unavoidable. if it’s the gym or church or route to class, you can actively avoid them if you want to.
