By now, I’m sure you’ve all seen the sorority Tumblr trend, created one of your own, and submitted it to our brother site, TFM (maybe even more than once). I mean, if your tumblr isn’t on TFM, do you really even have one? I get it, kind of. You feel like your chapter is hot, because the authority on all things hot babes said it was, and that’s a pretty good feeling.
About two months ago, the Arizona State University chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon made a mock Tumblr and it was the greatest thing ever. The boys perfectly parodied the sorority Tumblrs with ridiculous photos and ridiculous faces. There were also some ridiculous abs, so I had no shame in expressing my adoration for it.
When I realized that Delta Tau Delta at Illinois had joined the fraternity Tumblr war, you could only imagine my excitement. I was expecting a hilarious new photoshoot. Also, abs. What I found was a group of photos that seemed far too realistic to be a joke. The fraternity actually created a Tumblr–for real, not for fake. Complete with a bunch of songs about summer and photos of brothers being brotherly, we have our first authentic fraternity Tumblr. It’s not that they’re unattractive guys, because they’re actually pretty hot, but the fact that this exists? My ovaries don’t really know what to do about it. Much like guys who are too good with fashion, guys who are too into maintenance, or guys who like reality TV too much, something about it is kind of a turn off. I don’t like my men to be women, or my fraternities to be sororities.
