Now-a-days everything apparently makes you skinny. Chocolate, wine, witchcraft. And I never really got it. Sure, with moderation anything can make you lose weight. Like, chocolate makes you skinny if you don’t eat it, you know? But a new study was just released and it not only makes sense, but it just might be the best news ever. Rumor has it that tequila makes you shed weight.
A recent study conducted by the American Chemical Society found that a natural sweetener in the tequila plant (raise your hand if you just learned that tequila comes from plant) both reduces blood sugar and makes it easier to lose weight by curbing your appetite. According to JustTango , researchers found that not only do “agavins [the sweetener] reduce glucose levels and increase GLP-1, they also increase the amount of insulin [your body makes].” The study goes on to state that another reason agavins are good for you is because they are “the best sugars to help support growth of healthful microbes in the mouth and intestines.”
To be honest, I don’t understand a word of that because science isn’t my thing. But if the professional brains say that tequila can melt my fat off, who am I to disagree? Besides, considering the fact that the morning after tequila involves my face in a toilet, it kind of makes sense. Now pass me that bottle of Jose, some limes, and the salt, and let me get back to working on my abs..
