Disney movies are classics, and there’s something to be said about not messing with a good thing, but live-action remakes are an exception to that rule. I was so happy with the live-action “Cinderella” movie and I cannot contain my excitement for the live-action “Beauty and the Beast,” (Emma Watson as Belle is PERFECT casting) and now it has come out that Disney is remaking one of my all-time favorite Disney movies, “Mulan.”
According to a report by Variety, Sony will be spearheading the project and the only thing we know so far is that it will be filmed in China (as it should be) with a mostly Chinese cast. I crushed hard on Li Shang when I was a kid, so I’m most excited to see what beautiful Chinese man they cast to play that role.
“Mulan” had the most underrated Disney songs of all time. I mean, if you didn’t sing “Reflection” to yourself in the mirror as a child, did you even have a childhood? “Honor To Us All” is also a fire jam. And you can’t forget the best song of the movie, “I’ll Make A Man Out Of You.”
So. Freaking. Excited. .
