SNL Just Casted Its First Latina And You Probably Already Know Her

Meet Melissa Villaseñor. Although, you probably already know her from well, just about everywhere.

Maybe you know her from her viral audition when she was a finalist on America’s Got Talent season 6. She showed off her catalogue of impersonations and everyone was shocked and/or creeped out by how spot on they were.

Or maybe you know her from her Vine account where she moonlights as Owen Wilson’s long lost clone.

Side note: All of her social media accounts (except for Facebook) are on private right now for what I can only assume is potential damage control. But through Internet magic her Vines still play though Twitter.

Or maybe from her YouTube channel.

OR maybe from the comedy studio Más Mejor (started by SNL alum Fred Armisen and Horatio Sanz). I’m still not entirely convince this isn’t Sarah Silverman.

Well now everyone is going to know her, but this time as a cast member on Saturday Night Live. Villaseñor will be joining the season 42 cast. Not only is this a big deal for any comedian’s career, but this is an especially big deal. In its 41 years on air, Melissa will be the first Latina cast member.

Impressions (and cast members breaking character) are the best part of SNL. So season 42? It’s looking pretty good. The season premieres October 1st.

Hey SNL, what took ya so long?
