The 6 Emmys Speeches From Last Night That You REALLY Need To See

Amy Scumer

Television has become a huge part of our lives in the past few years. Whether it’s binging from our DVR or from our best friend’s boyfriend’s mom’s sister’s goddaughter’s Netflix, we just can’t get enough. So naturally, the Emmys should be a thing for us. It honors the actors, and shows, that have become a part of our lives (how pathetic). But, most of us were too busy watching these shows to actually tune into the 67th award show. So, here’s a few speeches you need to see to act like you know what’s going on in your little television world. Watch, and thank me later.

Jeffrey Tambor

Acceptance speech for “Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series.”

Fighting the good fight so that everyone can be exactly who they want to be.

Amy Schumer

Acceptance speech for “Outstanding Variety Sketch Series.”

Started from making light of serious situations now she’s here. Still making light of serious situations, but gosh. How we love her.

Viola Davis

Acceptance speech for “Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series.”

She’s the first african american woman to win this award, and so, naturally, the tears were flowing from all of us. Well. freaking. done.

Uzo Aduba

Acceptance speech for “Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series.”

Here’s to “Crazy Eyes” for showing that the strangest characters are sometimes the best.

Jon Stewart

Acceptance speech for “Best Variety Talk Series.”

Ugh. Come back Jon. Come back.

Jon Hamm

Acceptance speech for “Outstanding Lead Actor In A Drama Series.”

No one ever made me want to get drunk at work and be told to “shut the door” quite like Don. I mean Jon. I mean, whatever. They’re both hot and have a giant trowser snake so…

Thanks for spending your lives to create something that takes up our lives. Now if you’ll excuse me, I have some television to watch.

Rachel Varina

(yeahokaywhat) Aspiring to be the next Tina Fey, Rachel spends her free time doing nothing to reach that goal. While judging people based on how they use "they're" vs. "there" on social media, she likes eating buffalo chicken dip, watching other people's Netflix, and wearing sweatpants way more than is socially acceptable.
