Slut shaming: Negative attitudes about safe and consensual sex on women.
Homewrecker: Cheater, should be shamed.
These are two different terms. Yet, this article mixes the two together, which refinforces negative attitudes and stereotypes against women’s body autonomy and sexuality.
What I mean is sex can be fun. And I feel this article is using “slut shaming” as a tokenized term by casting a negative shadow on something that is commonly shamed on women. Thus, reinforcing negative attitudes and stereotypes regarding sex and women.
Lewinsky made a mistake, which is wrong. But, this is not what slut shaming means, and it certainly doesn’t equate with homewrecker, quite the opposite. Cheating is a negative thing, and should be treated as such.
On the other hand, if it’s consentual from all parties involved, then it is perfectly fine and acceptable.
The tone of the articles gives such a negative tone to real, fun, consensual sex, that I believe this article using the term “slut shaming” as satire.
