If you are dumb enough to believe that wearing a skimpy sexualized “tribal themed” native costume should be open to debate if it’s wrong or not or should offend the people it poorly portrays then do yourself a service and educate yourself. It might be for a fun light-hearted event but that doesn’t mean you can act plain stupid and degrade yourselves and the people teaching you. Sexualizing indigenous women IS a problem…STILL. Joking about it is not just rude but ignorant and racist. I really hope in the time it’s been since you made this post that you have read about the 4000 indigenous women who have vanished in Canada or gotten curious and looked at how Pocahontas actually dressed.
Also, to any girls standing up for this because it’s “fun”…we might be sorority girls but we are also women. Have self respect and never play dumb to go far!
