Don’t get me wrong, I’m livid about the new rules; I don’t enjoy being treated as a child and frankly my first reaction to these rules was, “can they even fucking do that???” They’re excessive and inadequate all at once.
But by saying that this will kill Greek life, we perpetuate all the stigmatized stereotypes about us. No, this isn’t even addressing the safety of the women on campus, or even in Greek housing. No, we are not the sole perpetrators of these crimes. Are we going to say that this shit they are cracking down on is so vital to our identity and behavior that our functional existence on this campus is as good as dead, though?
We have a choice: sit around and bitch about these rules, or continue to do great things for our community, regardless. You talk about blood drives and donations as if they are affected by specific curfews, drug tests, and alcohol regulations-
