I think that’s unfair to a lot of student-athletes. Title IX actually keeps separate from any athletics operations. Title IX is there to show you your options. They will go to court dates with you, and just help you get into everyday living. It’s something you unfortunately don’t understand until it happens to you or someone close to you. Educate yourself on the statistics of trial success, and you’ll understand why it’s hard for women to come forward.

As a victim of sexual assault, I can first hand tell you going to your local authorities does not mean you will get treated rightfully either way. My university was the only outlet that listened to me a semester later when I was put on medical leave for PTSD, anxiety, and depression. Why? I had already taken a shower, as most rape victims commonly want to. Therefore my case against a boy would merely become he said she said all because I wanted to try to feel clean, as a pre-law student I knew my odds. My university made it so I could avoid him at all costs, he could not schedule into my classes(at the time of the occurrence he was in three), and that I would have safety plans in place. That is why keeping Title IX powers without limitation of their initial abilities intact is so important. So those who showered, and tried to move on for the fear of being chastised by not only fellow male students but by fellow female students, or any faculty; could finally gain some sort of feeling of safety again. To say, they don’t get to win here, or to take my education. I stand with these chapters wholeheartedly.
