To the author: hopefully I can provide a bit of insight into Brooke’s point of view. Not being her, I can only use my own experiences as an example. I’ve been lied to, used, misled, and thrown away like so much garbage more times than is healthy to my self esteem to admit. I’ve been Brooke, I think we’ve all been Brooke at some point. And if this girl really did develop feelings for you early on and your response was to play games with her like an amused cat slowly killing a small animal, you have torn a hole through her emotional being. She has curled up in fetal position and sobbed into a pillow, asking herself things like: What am I doing wrong? Why am I not good enough for him? What is wrong with me? etc etc… She has poured over every feature of her personality and physical appearance, desperately searching for the reason why she is insignificant to you. And then one day, it dawned on her: there’s absolutely nothing wrong with her. There’s something wrong with you. She probably discovered this around the same time you did. So now, instead of continuing the cycle of emotional agony provided to her by the false hope she’s been used to receiving by staying in contact with you, she’s doing the only thing she can: grab the last piece of her self worth, cut you out of her life and move on. And who can blame her?
