This post crossed a line. My mother died of breast cancer when I was 15. It turns out that it runs on her side of the family and my father’s (my grandmother died at age 43, so I never knew her). My sister had the same genetic test as Angelina and also has the BRCA2 gene and has a 80% chance of having breast cancer. My sister had a mastectomy and reconstructive surgery. She was 24. Your telling me that if you had familial history (as Angelina does since her mother died) that you wouldn’t be just a little bit concerned about your own chances? Do I agree with Angelina on everything? No. But I respect her for putting a face on something that is really important to women. Especially with all that sorority chapters across this nation do for breast cancer research, you would at least be sympathetic to this.
