If anyone is thinking about the IUD, I highly recommend it. Of course everyone has a different experience with it but mine has been nothing but positive so far. Insertion felt like one huge cramp that lasted 10 seconds and I moved on with my day like nothing happened. I got mine in April and spotted for a month before my cycle got back on track but I’ve noticed my periods have definitely gotten lighter. I don’t have to worry about taking the pill everyday and I’m set for the next 5 years. Best of all, it was $800 and I got it for free. If you’re insured, there’s a very good chance they cover the costs of an IUD!

Whatever your form of birth control is, keep on staying safe ladies 🙂

Loved this article! Thanks for sharing your positive experience; not enough women know about it/consider it an option. I got the Mirena 3 months ago and the insertion was similar to the way you described it. It felt like one huge cramp that lasted for like 10 seconds and that was it. For me, I spotted like crazy for the first month but my cycle seems to have regulated itself now and I haven’t experienced any side effects. Also, I have insurance through my university and it turns out the IUD was covered so I was reimbursed for $800! So if anyone was thinking about getting an IUD, I highly recommend it and definitely check with your insurance company to see if you could get it for free! 🙂
