I loathe these “real” statements. Like, “a real Southern lady” does this or “a real sorority woman” does that. There are lots of different ways to live your life and all are “real.” My mother has always had someone help clean our home so she can spend more time with her children and doing things she feels are more important to her than housework. Does she know how to clean a house? Yes. Does she feel the need to? No and she’s a “real housewife” as far as my family is concerned. I understand wanting to do everything yourself but don’t discredit those who choose not to.

I was brought up using Easter as a guideline. However, my cousins who are from Pennsylvania observe Memorial Day. I don’t know who is right, but it gets hot down here earlier so it feels like summer earlier and I’m always ready to break out the white as soon as possible.
