The point of this article is to say that she doesn’t think she is entitled. Entitlement, by definition, is “a legal right or a just claim to receive or do something.” What I get from the article is that she is trying to say she doesn’t live life thinking she deserves everything she gets. The Starbucks, the designer bag – those come from working hard at her job and budgeting well. The good grades come from time management and studying hard. It’s not like what else she is saying isn’t true – people DO take you more seriously when you actually take time to put yourself together. People DO judge you when you wear bows and pink and letters. I can honestly say I get judged a LOT when I, like this woman writes, am carrying a designer bag, have my nails done, and am wearing my letters while my hair is pulled back by a bow. People place stereotypes and they expect us to fall into those stereotypes as entitled, snobby airheads. So is this woman right to write an article on how she isn’t entitled? Heck yes, because the stereotype needs to stop.
