    1. Maternity leave is grossly unpaid
    2. We have to constantly defend our right to not have children. CONSTANTLY.
    3. We’re constantly being called “overbearing” “too much” “crazy” when we have a feeling or opinion
    4. We have to deal with the possibility of being raped, way more than men
    5. Although we comprise a significantly higher number of collegiate students and generally do better, we make up very few senior positions in the job market (government for example, very male)
    6. And the whole “Ya’ll get pregnant thing” do you even realize how this can affect the course of a woman’s life or… like… I guess you don’t.

I am so glad to hear woman speaking out and “reclaiming” and thus, de-stigmatizing the word “feminist.” You are also dispelling the myth that woman in sororities are vapid and entitled. YES THIS IS GREAT. But, I have a few points to make re: your points.

First of all, you say you don’t want to be associated with the “bra burning” feminists… well, isn’t your definition of feminism also narrow in a way? I say this, if there’s someone who’s pro-ladies, and pro-equality, I don’t care how they do it (as long as its legal and kosher).

Second, woman actually haven’t been oppressed for millions of years. In fact, there is evidence that suggests very equal and egalitarian relationships between men and woman for most of human history. That’s why it’s sorta backwards that it is now. There are plenty of cultural anthropologists who have studied gender. I suggest you read about it.

Nazifeminism… really? These inflammatory terms are why we can’t have nice things.

Also, overemotional… again, inflammatory, and a quality that we have been conditioned to “control” and a word used to describe woman that basically any time you say it trivializes an argument. I’m overemotional sometimes and its not because I’m crazy or barbaric (as you suggest) but because shit sucks sometimes/you won’t get anywhere without passion/I am a normal emotionally competent human being/whatever. I know men who are “barbarians” with their overemotional qualities but I mean its actually super normal to feel feelings.

And for those people who are like “PREACH,” you may want to read more about gender equality. Shit’s pretty grim right now, despite us being well into the 21st century. And no, radicals don’t ruin it for everyone. They’re just expressing an opinion, which according to the first amendment, we’re all entitled to have.
