Or it could also be that our society has such a heavy stigma against casual sex that any people that DARE to do the horizontal tango with someone they don’t know very well have to worry about their friends (and other potential partners) judging them mercilessly. Though it is rather interesting that the anxiety levels were about equal between genders… That one’s a shocker.
Chivalry doesn’t necessarily mean anti-rape. I’ve noticed that many men who identify as “chivalrous” have high expectations that they in turn DESERVE to have sex (as if open doors equate to open legs) and will often force themselves on the person they were being so nice in public to. Commendable effort on your frat’s part, for sure! I just wanted to address this aspect as well.
Actually, 81 isn’t such a bad number. In Statistics, we’re taught that anything less than 30 shouldn’t be trusted, and anything less than 50 with a grain of salt. The 3 Unis, however, and only from the South is very worrying. I’d like to see this study expanded across the country.
Love this!! I’m so sick of hearing how a woman’s only job in college is to find a husband (something that the Mayor of friggin’ London even said yesterday). The only marriage I hope to leave college with is the one with my devoted love of Statistics. Partners aren’t as time sensitive.
Because clearly women are only worth their bodies and not their words or intellect. GFY.

I really want to send this to Michael Kimmel (writer of Guyland) and let him simmer over it awhile…

God forbid we make women feel okay about themselves all at once!
Actually, if you’ll look in the background, she’s in an office.
