I disagree a bit with your interpretation. The point of the song is that the cheerleader and the boy just don’t fit together quite right. Swift isn’t saying that it’s wrong not to like a certain kind of music, or to be a cheerleader, or to care about one’s appearance. What she’s saying is that she and the boy like the same music, the same jokes, and have a long history together. However, he doesn’t notice that they are clearly meant for each other because he’s distracted by the superficial appeal of the cheerleader.

She’s not saying that the cheerleader doesn’t deserve love. It’s just that she’s not with the right person, and it’s not wrong to choose to make a run at someone just because they are dating. If they’re right with the person they are already dating, then that relationship will survive. If they’re not, then maybe they’ll find the person with whom they belong.

Why are so many pics submitted of girls holding guns they clearly don’t know how to use? Is that still a novelty somewhere?
