I don’t doubt that you have a strong sisterhood and amazing experiences, I just question how much substance this video actually gets across to the viewer. It doesn’t seem to show that much of anything of real value besides girls having fun and looking cute. It doesn’t make it a bad video, it’s clearly well done and it’s cute, but (back to my main question) what’s the real point of it?
But all it actually shows of those things is staged fun. Recruitment videos at my school feature pictures/videos from philanthropy events, formal, etc when people aren’t acting for the camera, as well as interviews and pictures. More realistic ways to actually understand the sisterhood/friendship/values of a chapter
The website being named “Crimson theta,” for example doesn’t mean that the chapters don’t heavily associate themselves with Harvard. Using Theta as an example, the fact that they use the word Crimson is a blatant association with Harvard. And directly from their website: “Theta was the first Panhellenic sorority to be founded at Harvard.” The Greek chapters link themselves to Harvard, have used Harvard facilities in the past, etc. The university is well within their rights to try to dissuade and prevent that.
Are you saying it doesn’t make sense for the university to punish students for being involved in organizations banned by the school? Specifically organizations that associate themselves with the school by name?
“Now, to be fair, single sex groups are technically not allowed at the university, so it does stand to reason that participating in them is a violation of rules.”
That’s literally all that needs to be said on the matter. So stop complaining about it.
Also, as the article says they did donate money as well, so I’m not discounting what these chapters did, just pointing out it would be more effective for all of the money to go to Flint and not part of it towards bottled water
Not trying to be rude, just presenting the facts that I’ve been learning them as a public health major (Flint is a great case study for public health so we’ve been talking about it extensively)
Don’t donate bottle water!! It doesn’t help, would be impossible to get as much bottled water as needed, and creates an extra environmental problem!! But definitely donate money, that can be used to create real, sustainable solutions to the problem
Why is this article about “silly boys, don’t put your racist/sexist/disgusting thoughts in writing in case someone finds them!” And not about condemning organizations and members who actually hold these beliefs in the first place? Yes, it’s stupid to send out emails like these but it’s so much worse that thinking like this exists and was obviously encouraged and perpetuated by this chapter. Get a grip, TSM
“If chosen correctly, your squad could seriously dominate your sorority,” LOVE it

You realize that Harvard is about 200 years older than any Greek organization, right?
YES thank you
