How did they measure hypermasculinity or even “rape-yness”? Rape and sexual assault are chronically and systematically underreported on college campuses. So I’m wondering how they measured rape, sexual assault and even sexual aggressiveness. I could think of reasons why sexual violence may be more underreported in the Greek community than the non-Greek community, but I’ll be optimistic and take this as a sign that teaching people about consent can reduce instances of sexual violence (leaving aside the possibility that Greek men are simply innately less likely to be sexually aggressive).
This article reeks of slut-shaming–even if it is jokingly. When you engage in slut-shaming you are perpetuating the notion that society has the right to tell women what they should or should not be doing with their bodies. This reenforces a pernicious double standard for women. So even if the message of the article is “sluts aren’t so bad, they are even fun!” you legitimize a larger slut-shaming narrative which harms women.
Why do you hope I’m not a lesbian? Is there anything wrong with being a lesbian? Would you support a sister if she said she was lesbian? Do you automatically reject all people who don’t fall into your narrowly constructed view of femininity? The gay bashing needs to stop.
