DeltaZee it does depend on major. Different majors are completely different things and in my opinion there should be gpa handicaps. I don’t feel like i should be compared to you equally when you have to take basically a biology degree. Try taking calc, chem, physics, programming, and econ all in the same semester and pull off that 3.3.
I’m biased but I would go as far as saying like a 2.0 in engineering is better than say a 4.0 in liberal arts. Maybe job recruiters would like the better GPA but the majors are just so different. Looking at the classes for both majors proves this completely. In my book if you take psychology everyone should get an A but just passing say thermodynamics II is difficult.
Its not that business is a bad career choice its that engineering is a much harder major than basically any other one making them better prepared for grad school or making them a better candidate for a job. Also regarding pre professional majors, the undergrad program is really easy so saying you are in pre-med means nothing until you have an acceptance letter to a decent med school in your hands. Any idiot can take a watered down biology course load and brag how he’s in pre-med but his C’s mean he will be lucky to get a job managing a McDonald’s after he graduates. Same goes for pre-law.
