Lets revisit 11th grade shall we? Picture it. You’re a Junior in high school and at this point friendships and alliances i.e. cliques have developed, however not everyone likes everyone, and some are more popular than other. You have a few friends, but high school for you…lets just say it isnt Cheers, where everybody knows your name, but there are a group of girls whose names everyone knows, but specifically one girl seems to get all the attention. You begin to ask yourself “What does she have that I don’t ?”, however not wanting to be “that girl”, you know the girl that seems jealous, you quickly dismiss the thought of even posing such a question.
As the school year progresses, your social life is pretty much the same as it was in the beginning of the school year, but that ONE popular girl seems to be getting more attention than ever, people seem to love her, she is frequently a topic of conversation, but why? No one knows why she gets so much attention but you dont like it, and you are beginning to resent the very mention of her name.
You are determined to tell anyone who will listen that you dont like her, and try to convince them, especially those in your inner circle, that she’s not worth all the attention. “But Wait” says the most rational person in your click, “If you dont like her or the attention she gets, why the hell do you dedicate your time and energy focusing your attention on her?” You suddenly turn into a deer in headlights, and began to incessantly ramble about petty reasons to justify your disdain, thus in turn giving more of your time and energy to someone who doesn’t know who you are, and has never done anything with intent of malice, yet you continue your little immature smear campaign because your voice will be heard!
