After reading the first paragraph, I was convinced this was satire. I was proved wrong upon finishing the article and baffled at your logic of trying to dispel the common stereotype of sorority girls. To a reader who is not part of the sorority system, this just further reinforced the general stereotype. Perhaps instead of naming off characteristics of “that girl”, you should write an article about a different topic to prove your intelligence. Staying in on a Saturday night and spending a day at the library does not mean you are smart. It means you are staying in on a Saturday night and spending a day the library. Just because you cry when you see commercials about abused animals does not mean you have a big heart. These are common behaviours among the general student population. Shopping at Target and enjoying Ryan gosling’s smile doesn’t make you dumb, but this article definitely reinforces any of my preconceived notions of a sorority girl. Perhaps instead of trying to persuade others to think of you as a highly intellectual writer, you should stick to what you know how to do well… Being a typical sorority girl.
