Ahh, I’ve been searching for a blazer like that actually! Any suggestions? I would even take black :)

Earlier in the summer, H&M had quite a few to choose from. I got a navy one with carolina blue lining. They also had nude and black. The fit is very feminine, & it’s lightweight for fall. H&M sometimes has mediocre quality pieces, but I am very impressed with the blazer!

Can anyone recommend any perfume? I used to use YSL Paris, but I kind of want something new. I like really clean-smelling scents, like baby powder kind of. Mild and clean. Please and thank you!

Grace by Philosophy is very simple, it’s mild & a little sweet, I bet you’d love it!

Hello ladies, I need your advice. My girlfriend’s birthday is coming up and I was thinking about getting her a new longchamp bag but I’m not sure which size to get, what do y’all suggest? P.S. I’ll also take any other birthday gift suggestions. Thanks

^This man has been molded into a true gentleman by his family and by his fraternity. I love the longchamp idea, and if you’re looking for something else, I say pick up a gift set of her favorite perfume and put it inside. Perfume is something that we girls run out of quite often, and the matching lotion goes even faster, so unless she just replaced hers she’ll appreciate that she’s got extra and that her boyfriend put the effort in to figuring out what she wore :)

Superb idea! Along with the Longchamp she would probably appreciate a monogrammed Tervis Tumbler! I got one for my anniversary! You can pick her favorite colors, sorority symbols, etc. to personalize it for her! You’re def on the right track with the Longchamp, I’d say to stick to one of the medium or large sizes, def not one of the tiny ones, those are for little girls. For color inspiration, check out what colors she wears a lot of already, what colors she decorates with, or go with a main color of her sorority. They also have an option to pick 2 colors & to monogram it on the website, that would make it an especially thoughtful gift! Hope this helps!

Sending my legacy to my alma mater this fall and need fashion advice. Can anyone give me some advice on sorority fashion must haves at Oklahoma State?

We are a Southern family living in the Midwest, so we have experienced the regional differences in fashion, food, and manners. My daughter received enough VB for graduation to make a cover for her car (duffels in three sizes, backpack, laptop case, makeup bag, two phone holders, three IDcases), because it is insanely popular here. How much VB is acceptable on the OSU campus?

Rush attire?! HELP!! Just bought her a presh Lilly dress for Rush (sorry, I’m old school….can’t say recruitment). She has to wear shorts/skirt with a Panhel shirt one day. Which is better and what kind? How dressy should she be on Pref day? Jewelry? I’m having her grandmother’s pearls restrung, but if they aren’t done by Rush, I’ll just send her with mine, so pearls are covered. Are the James Avery charm bracelets still popular? I started hers when she was three, and it tells her story, so I love it, but I don’t want her to look like a doofus. (geed wasn’t a word in my day)

Everyday wear? Thankfully, she is turning away from UO and towards J. Crew (praise God!), but what do we need in her wardrobe besides norts (she has tons), Toms (15 pairs), UGGS (4) and cowboy boots (4). What is most popular in jeans? (boot, skinny) Skirts or shorts? What style/fabric/colors/patterns?

Any advice is greatly appreciated! I can hardly wait for her to have the unmatchable experience of sorority life, and I don’t really care if she pledges my house! You ladies have no idea how strong your sisterly bond will still be 30 years from now!! BTW, please spare me the just be yourself and your clothes don’t matter line. I’ve been through Rush, been on the house side of Rush and been a Rush Counselor; I know better.

I really wish I could help you out! I go to school in Virginia, and from the sounds of it she’s covered with Lilly & pearls but that really is a Southern thing, I couldn’t tell you if it translates to the Midwest. From experience at my school, “pin attire” (Business casual, but not frumpy) is a good level of dressiness each night, but Pref tends to be a bit dressier. We do cocktail, but still classy dresses (just above the knee) in more formal fabrics, Ann Taylor, Banana Republic, and Lilly should def provide some good options. As far as shoes go during recruitment I wear dressy flats because its a lot of standing! I love the collection of flats at J.Crew, and Tory Burch has some great ones too! However, I would recommend heels if she is petite, she will stand out a little more. I really couldn’t tell you if charm bracelets, shorts, skirts Toms, etc are big at Oklahoma, they are pretty big in VA. Again, I’m not sure about how the other pieces of advice will translate, but from the sounds of it I think she will be fine. But, I am a Southern girl too!

Ladies, I’m looking for a new dress for a White Coat Ceremony but I am having a hard time finding one that fits. Would you be so kind as to name a few brands that make really small sizes?

Same! I am too small for Brooks Brothers, Ann Taylor & JCrew sz 0! I’d say you’re lucky if you are under 5’5” because they make petite sizes in XXS, but unfortunately I’m 5’8″. I wear Banana Republic for casual day dresses & tops, I like the way their clothes are cut to skim you, but as far as shorts, formal dresses, and jeans go, I have yet to find a small enough brand that isn’t for juniors. As tragic as this sounds, I’d rather have this problem than the opposite!!

One of our sisters is a student teacher in a third grade classroom. She once heard a student say “If you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all, or lie” This reminds me of that child’s quote! Great social principle!

Girls, any suggestions of perfume? I am addicted to my Miss Dior Cherie but I’m looking to try something new. Any ideas of something light, floral and classy?

I have worn DKNY Be Delicious (the original green bottle) for a few years, and guys and girls both compliment me on it.

If you’re looking for floral, Vera Wang Princess and Marc Jacobs Daisy are pretty, but in my opinion, they have unfortunately gotten too popular….I feel like I smell those two perfumes on girls all the time.

Love Vera Wang Princess. It’s the only perfume I wear.

These are all excellent, and can make a great signature scent. I wear Missoni Missoni when I go out, especially in the evening. It’s very floral and has some citrus undertones. But for the day time, especially in the summer, I go with Bath & Body body sprays. I have tons of the travel sizes, they go for like $4 each, that way you can mix it up and change your flavor as needed. Also, the bottles are small enough to stash in your purse for mid day pick me ups! They aren’t nearly as sticky as a perfume but they last!

Ah definitely favoriting this discussion. I’m always looking for books to read. Poisonwood Bible, South of Broad, and Lone Survivor have now been added to my “to-read” list.

My fave beachy authors- Sarah Dessen and Mary Kay Andrews

For something a little more heavy but always exciting- definitely Jodi Picoult. My personal favorite is Change of Heart.

I’ve recently read two cute little road trip-summer love type books- Amy and Roger’s Epic Detour and Two-Way Street. Both had happy endings that made me smile :)

I want to get some Nicholas Sparks books this summer too but they need to have a happy ending- any suggestions??

I think you’d like The Secret Life of Bees, I read it years ago. It’s a very touching story & the ending won’t disappoint!

So girls, my chapter doesn’t have a house due to an ancient law of the city that our college resides in. However I’m moving into a house with 4 of my sisters, and I need help. I have a super cute pink and green bedspread and white furniture. However I need ideas about decorating the walls, besides pictures and an anchor of course, and cute ideas for my window seat. Thanks!!

I have a row house with 3 sisters. We put up a quote in painted letters hanging from matching ribbon that says “We laugh more than we breathe” its a great focal point in our living room. I’m also a fan of vinyl monograms and letters to take up wall space. I’m shamelessly jealous that you have a window seat! I’ve always wanted one to stack decorative pillows on! A lot of our sisters will also frame a large copy of our creed or crest, printed on nice paper to put on the wall.
