I agree that the show represents bad parts of pageants but it also shows good sides, too, if you watch it enough. Not every pageant on Toddlers and Tiaras is high glitz.

Also- often you will see kids that don’t enjoy the pageants and at the end of the episode the parents say “This is our last pageant.”

If your child doesn’t want to do it, you shouldn’t force them.

Arnold Palmer…. You’re calling the girls on the show bratty and stuck up… aren’t most sorority girls bratty and stuck up? I honestly can be at times. So let’s just be real for a minute. It CAN be a good way to socialize children, just like going greek is a great way to socialize in college. You can scrutinize being greek in very similar ways. However, when it comes down it it, they both offer very positive things, too.

I think it’s cute for girls ages 3-5. It’s a great way to socialize kids before they hit school-age and it gets them to be outgoing and interested in something. And not all of the Mom’s are white trash… I certainly won’t be! Not every single pageant has to be high-glitz with fake nails, spray on tans, flippers, etc. In fact, most kid pageants don’t involve all of that. Maybe you should watch the show a little more. Most of those little girls are super cute and outgoing with great personalities… a lot of those qualities are probably brought out by participating in pageants.
