I can totally relate to this column from both sides of the spectrum. My freshman year I rushed at one school and dropped the bottom tier sorority the first night, even though I absolutely hated one of the top tiers. I ended up pledging a higher tier and it was a great fit for me. However, I transferred schools for my sophomore year and my chapter there was bottom tier. I was so convinced that I was “too good” for this chapter that I would only hang out with girls in other sororities. I wouldn’t even stand up when fraternity boys called us “Phi Moo.” I eventually came around more and became very involved in my chapter and made a lot of great friends in the process. I just wished that I would have put all the tier nonsense behind me from the beginning.
