This is actually what I did after my number one left me a week before our 4 year anniversary. We were practically married (insurance policies together, worked together, had each other on credit accounts, and utilities). He told me the day after my gram’s birthday and proceeded to move out on the day that was supposed to be our anniversary. He hung out with one of our coworkers whom also had broken up with her bf 2 weeks before I was broken up with. On top of that, my gram died a month after the break up and I was leaving for NYC for a school trip 5 days after that, so on top of grieving a practical divorce, and a family member dying I saw NYC as the opportunity to just do whatever I wanted, be myself for once and enjoy life. Although I work with my ex and his new gf (which was that coworker he’d been hanging around) My life is better and I have been eyeing a guy who went through the same thing as I did a year before. Hopefully something will come of that. In the end, I feel this column is EXACTLY how I moved on and it works well.
