Thank you ChiOwLove, I’m glad you understand what I’m saying. And Kappa G I didn’t read your post before I sent in my last one, but I’m really glad we’re on the same page here, and I do wish everyone else would take a step back and see that this post is in fact not completely serious, which I now do. Pan-love to both of you! <3

I do wish people wouldn’t be so fast to judge others on here as well, KG. When it comes down to it, it’s up to each person how they want to look–they get to decide what look is best for them. I can’t really pull off the whole Audrey Hepburn porcelain skin thing, but I sure do know girls who can. Likewise, some of the girls I know with fairer complexions would look odd with year round tans. Skin cancer is a legitimate concern, but that doesn’t mean that every girl who goes to a tanning bed once for recruitment will have melanoma and look like a baseball glove by age 25, and every girl who gets a healthy glow by spray tan during the winter does not necessarily look like an oompa loompa (although I think we’ve all seen that happen.) That being said, fair skin can look absolutely amazing on some girls, as long as it’s kept healthy. In the end, it’s all about being responsible about your appearance and your health. If you are doing both of those things, then there is really no need to argue about this.

Kappa G, I may have sent you the wrong message. I’m not saying I hate tanning–I went the other day, so that would be hypocritical. I do tan for recruitment, but I believe it’s up to girls to decide for themselves whether or not they want to. Telling overweight girls to work out is different because it will overall be better for their long term health, whereas you can the amount of vitamin d that you need for a day by just being outside for 10 minutes–most of us do that for the walk between classes. I’m glad you tan responsibly, and if you meant this post somewhat jokingly, I do deeply apologize for some of the more hostile responses you have received. But you have to understand how this looks when you post things like this–and for girls who don’t tan because they get sun poisoning or because they have had skin cancer scares, this could make them feel as though you see them as lesser members of their houses, which, I assume, is simply untrue.

Engaged and Underage, first off I’d like to say I always enjoy reading what you have to say 🙂 it’s girls like you who prove sorority women are not shallow, vapid creatures; that there’s a whole lot more to sisterhood than just all being pretty. It doesn’t matter who’s tan, who’s pale, etc. The fact of the matter is girls can still be pretty without a tan, and they can definitely still be amazing contributions to our houses. Sisterhood isn’t about being skinny and tan–it’s about bonds that will last our entire lives. At least, I hope that’s what Kappa G’s house is about.

Well said AlphaPhirless! Having a healthy body, whether curvy and toned or slim and tight, is always a TSM. However, talking badly about other houses, onlypledgethebest, is definitely NS. Greeks ladies should always be classy.
