The thing is, we shouldn’t be “expected” or “not expected” to do anything. When a man carries a heavy box or opens the door for me, it doesn’t mean I *can’t* or *wouldn’t* do it myself. You sound like someone who memorized your textbook, but you honestly haven’t actually put thought into a lot of what you’re saying or how any of this affects you.
You said on an earlier post that women “will never” earn the same as men and that women don’t/shouldn’t take risky jobs like men– for starters, there are several women who work as police officers, fire fighters, construction workers and even (GASP!) the military. We are in every field of work out there and we do deserve to earn the same.
I’ve had my share of women’s studies, but knowing the definitions and time lines will never be limit of my knowledge. You don’t form a relevant personal opinion by merely taking a pre-defined side and ignoring, well, *everything else* there is (including your personal experiences, valid points made by other lines of thought.)
Sorry for overreacting like all of you other girls on such a random corner of the internet, but when I stumble upon women who think that valuing men means undermining our own gender I just get upset. I lived 19 years of my life in a country that ranks 52nd in terms of gender equality. I *know* how badly and how subtly a woman can be judged/used/abused, and I will never in my life stand for that again.
PS: I shave, am girly and attractive, love men to a fault, want to have a family some day and STILL I want to be respected and treated as an equal. Those values can, and should, coexist!
