14 Standup Specials That You Need To Watch, Like, Yesterday

Standup comedy is the simplest yet most difficult of comedy. You are on stage with a microphone and nothing else. All you have to fall back on is your jokes and your delivery. Done poorly, it can be one of the most uncomfortable things to witness. But done well, it can be legendary. Since there are so many comedians out there, it can be difficult to find sets that are actually worth watching. But I got your back, ladies.

1. Ali Wong: Baby Cobra

Ali (such a beautiful name) is 7 and a half months pregnant and is still murdering it on stage. She talks about everyone can relate to, like how she wants to trap a man to take care of her and how girls with glasses always want to be choked. She’s just your average girl next door.

2. Chris D’Elia: Incorrigable

Chris D’Elia is famously known for being Justin Bieber’s favorite comedian, and I gotta say, JB has some good taste in comedy. Chris has the goofiest voices and the most spot on observations that he even makes himself laugh on stage. This is a clip of him talking about how girls need to relax, and it is so funny I literally can’t.

3. John Mulaney: New Kid In Town

John is like that kid from high school that was always really nerdy but developed a sense of humor out of self defense. He’s so dorky and cute and just the mere sight of him will make you smile.

4. Pete Holmes: Nice Try, The Devil

Need more nerd humor? Pete Holmes is your guy. When describing himself he says, “this is the only life in which I am not a youth pastor.” He’s like everyone’s favorite goofy dad, but better. Seriously.

5. Nikki Glaser: Perfect

Nikki is your best friend who always has some crazy sex story. She is fiesty and shameless and exactly what every girl wants to be.

6. Bo Burnham: Make Happy

Bo is hands down one of the smartest people in the world. He is crazy talented in so many ways. His satirical songs are catchy and will make you ponder them for days. Not to mention, he is, like, so hot.

7. Aziz Ansari: Live at Madison Square Garden

Ugh, how can you not love Aziz? He is so quirky and fun, and you just KNOW that he is always the drunkest at every party. Love that little guy.

8. Daniel Tosh: People Pleaser

Daniel is like that fuckboy that you hate to love. He says the most offensive shit, but after a flash of that smile, it all goes away. What’s that you say? Women are stupid and old people are useless? Oh, you cheeky bastard.

9. Iliza Shlesinger: Freezing Hot

While we all anxiously await for her new special to come out, catch up on her last special, Freezing Hot. It will make you laugh until you pee a little. Trust.

10. Chelsea Peretti: One of the Greats

Chelsea asks the important questions. Like is it worse to wear a fedora or kill 15 people? That’s a tough one. Gonna have to go with the fedora.

11. Nick Kroll: Thank You Very Cool

Nick Kroll is a little weird for some, but his characters are some of the funniest comedy bits you will see, like his illiterate guido security guard Bobby Bottleservice. Safety first, but also be dangerous.

12. Natasha Leggero: Live at Bimbo’s

If you don’t think that Natasha is the most fabulous person alive, you are wrong. WRONG.

13. Nick Thune: Folk Hero

The whole time you’re kind of like, is he kidding or is he serious? But in the best way.

14. Amy Schumer: Mostly Sex Stuff

We all know where Amy is now, but what about when she first got her big break filming her special, Mostly Sex Stuff? It is the quintessence of her being and honestly, it should be required to be viewed by law.
