Corinne Olympios And DeMario Jackson Set To Return BiP

Corinne Demario

I’m a sucker for a good action movie, and I’m not just saying that in hopes of hooking some poor unsuspecting man who happens to be into reading TSM and watching superhero movies (but if you’re out there, HMU, I swear I’m not that crazy). There’s one action movie trope thats starting to get old: the villain returning. Just when you thought that the good guy wearing spandex finally got rid of them once and for all, they show up again, looking for revenge, and one final fight scene.

Well, guess who’s back, in typical villain style: Corinne Olympios.

Haven’t heard of her? Understandable, as its been about a whole two weeks since her name was plastered all over TMZ. If you’ve been living under a rock, or you just don’t give a fuck about people finding fake love, Olympios and the fourth season of Bachelor in Paradise made headlines when the 24-year-old business-owner-turned-Instagram-model accused DeMario Jackson, her costar, of misconduct and sexual abuse. Warner Brothers halted production, shipped the cast out of paradise, and started a private investigation.

After Jackson gave us some pretty intimate details of their sex life, and what seemed like every other contestant made a statement (usually in favor of DeMario’s innocence), Warner Bros finished their investigation, ultimately concluding that no misconduct occurred. DeMario’s name was officially cleared, however he still felt the effects of the accusations, public outcry, and public slander. In a recent statement, through his publicist, he said “It’s unfortunate that my character and family name has been assassinated this past week with false claims and malicious allegations.”

Both Olympios and Jackson withdrew from being a part of this season’s cast after the allegations were settled; however, it was announced that they both will be back for the reunion show. In an exclusive interview with E! News, Olympios (dryly) stated, “I am very happy to be appearing on the Bachelor In Paradise Special.” I didn’t know that a statement this boring could come from the girl who tried to trademark her “Platinum Vagine.”

DeMario took a different approach, saying that he will be appearing on the reunion to “settle things.” While it’s unclear what exactly that means, I’m sure that Jackson, who was also portrayed as a two-timing villain on Rachel’s season of The Bachelorette, won’t take the false allegations lightly.

If there’s one thing that the Bachelor Nation is good at, it’s creating drama that’s perfect for television. However, even though the allegations were cleared, and it was deemed that there was no misconduct or sexual abuse, I can’t help but feel uncomfortable about watching these two talk about the sexual abuse for views and entertainment. I do agree that it is a serious topic, and should be discussed in an educational, healthy, way on television, and in public, in general. However, with the murkiness surrounding this situation, and the questionable intentions of some of the parties involved, I don’t think that this is the best way to address sexual abuse publicly.

Many viewers will be tuning in with expectations of intense drama, and the hopes of fighting between the two, other contestants, and maybe a good old-fashioned catfight. While it’s still unclear what exactly happened that night, the idea of sexual abuse allegations, whether fake or not, leaves an ickier taste in my mouth than waking up the morning after drinking tequila.
