Thus, he bought me this ring to signify that one day it will be replaced by an engagement ring. But, for now, every time I look at the ring I remember the promise we made and I know that we are committed to each other. My purpose in saying all of this is that it works for some people, but may not work or make sense to others. I feel that by attacking those of us who wear promise rings and calling us “stupid” you are only going by the stereotypical stories that you hear about and not the individuals who take it seriously and use it in a personal way unique to their relationship.
