Japentz, is “Ally Cat Allies” affiliated with an older Baltimore group called “Alley Animals”, by any chance? This story brings back bad memories for me cuz in the mid 1990’s, I was being evicted & had to give my cats up temporarily. I had seen Alley Animals rescue work on channel 13 WJZ news & thought I could trust them. I had a deal with one of their Towson volunteers (who’s name I won’t mention) to temporarily hold my 2 cats, (mommy & 6 month old baby) for a couple months till I could get on my feet again. I gave her all my cat food & toys, plus my last $40 & promised to reimburse her any out of pocket cost when I got them back. She also promised I could call to check on them weekly. She later had my cats euthanized.
I went out of my mind for weeks while she ignored my calls & during that time, I befriended a well-known Balto animal activist named Leslie Glass who promised to get my cats back. She managed to get the volunteer’s address in Towson, but the day she gave it to me, 13 did a story about an animal dumping ground in the Howard County woods. Gut instinct kicked in, but I didn’t have the heart to go look, so Leslie did & what she saw made her sick. Along with dozens of other animal carcasses, she found my 2 solid white cats, decomposing with their collars still on their necks, in trash bags in the woods. From what she learned, Alley volunteers were selling off animals for experimental purposes & when the labs were done with them, they were dumped in the woods by AA drivers.
I later had to go to court for threatening to beat the volunteer’s ass & she lied to the States Attorney, telling him she adopted out my cats & I was crazy, but the damage had already been done. It’s very disturbing to me if this group still exists, so everyone, PLEASE BEWARE. Don’t trust just anyone who claim they love animals & keep a watchful eye out for dog & cat snatchers around your neighborhood. Animals deserve so much better than nasty profiteers like that, running scams on unassuming people.
