Lemme get this straight – born in the 90s? B/c 90s kids — those of us in college etc, did much worse in the 80s, and before. But I agree that this is the best Harlem Shuffle.
I mean no harm to you, but this kid isn’t a “man.” He is just experiencing his first broken heart. He will live, and they will both likely be better off now – apart. There is loads of life, good and bad, ahead for them both, but hopefully separately. A real adult would realize that his behavior disqualified him from this girl and respect her for finally respecting herself enough to cut him off. A grown-up knows that he’s blown up that bridge but now owns vital info on what being mature and “manly” means. He can use this in his future to treat a person humanely – maybe even eventually selflessly. But to ask the young woman to give up self-respect just b/c his feelings hurt is as selfish as ever. Brooke, stay far far away.
