I would disagree with this, you are the typical “why pay for friends” person. Yes, greek life has cliques, but at the same time it is a learning experience. I myself went to a school where greek life did not have on campus housing and therefore the cost was minimal. Yes, I partied and had fun but who doesn’t do that in college. There were hundreds of clubs on campus, but I chose to join a fraternity because originally I wanted to party, but later I used it as a way to build leadership skills. So no it is not simple as that, and a lot of fraternities and sororities offer scholarships/aid to new members to help pay for dues, so your saying that its to rub in the fact for more money is kinda null. And I am pretty sure people who aren’t in Greek life have set group of friends throughout their college careers, so unless you are a complete hermit I don’t see your reasoning there. On my campus, Greek Life has the highest average GPA above any student organizations and the majority of members have higher than the average student’s GPA.

I agree with you that stereotyping based on just being in a sorority is not how people should go about it. But what I find funny is that girls from some of the sororities on my campus are sharing this article and they themselves pretty much just go around drinking and sleeping around with whoever. Then they expect people to take them seriously and post “I hate it when I am judged just because I am in a sorority”. No you aren’t being judged because of that, you are being judged because you fuck whatever you see and drink anything you can get for free from the next party even if you fuck whatever you see to get that drink for free.
