This article is shameful. My parents provided me with everything up until college and paid a boatload doing so. I’ve been involved in every activity under the sun and became a division 1 athlete. I am privileged. However, my parents knew I would have to learn financial responsibility at some point. They told me they would pay the tuition of a state school and that’s it, I could go to any school I got into but they would only pay a state school price tag and I had to cover the rest. I chose a school that had a price tag much bigger than that. I’ve seen both sides of the spectrum. I’ve been supported by my parents and I now have decided it is in my best interests to struggle with college debt for a good career outlook. Since doing so I have gained a tremendous amount of respect and first person perspective for people who have had to struggle to financially provide for themselves their whole lives. This author wrote an ignorant article. She feels like she is being judged for having everything when she should judge herself for shaming those who have nothing. Those who are just pointing out the problems with the class divide in America, that only the rich can afford an education that should be a right. Yet, how can you blame her when she doesn’t even know how wrong it is?
