You say you don’t see why anyone would ask about her financial status, but people ask stuff like that all the time. I too come from a family who pays for my school and housing. But I also work at least part time durning the school year and full time in the summer if I don’t take classes. And I have worked since I was 16 not because I was forced too but because I like to and like to make my own money. My parents have worked hard to teach me that you have to work to get what you want. People say “must be nice” all the time and I can’t stand it! If I wasn’t in school my parents wouldn’t pay for anything, they have always said if I’m not school then I have plenty of time to work and support my self and is totally correct. I really can not stand it when people say “must be nice”, yes it is nice and I shouldn’t feel bad that my parents made good choices and worked hard to save enough money to pay for my expenses.
Just because she didn’t say those exact words doesn’t mean she doesn’t see or know that there are people who have parents that work hard that still can’t pay for their kids college. A lot of people put people down because they come from a family that can afford to pay for their school and that’s not cool and that’s all she was saying in this article. I think this is a good article and people need to be more considerate and more understanding for the ones who don’t have to pay and work through school. They assume that because they don’t have to work they are lazy and don’t have a good work ethic but that is not always the case. Nobody puts people down who have to take out student loans or who have to work full time while they are school, and nobody should put people down who don’t have to. You can’t help the hand you were delt and you shouldn’t put people down because theirs is different than yours.
